Tama ba ang naririnig mo? OO sa MRT yan! Ayos ba? Kasi I just got home from work. I’m not yet that sleepy so I've decided to go online muna and upload something very interesting. Hehe. Very interesting kasi natuwa ako when I heard it. Hahaha lakas ba ng trip?! Yan ang effect ng puyat at gutom sakin.

Well natuwa lang ako kasi I used to hear that sa LRT 2 Purple line ba yun. Kaya I realized, this is a first so why not record it? ^^ At least this is something nice kesa sa mga nakakinis na experiences ntin sa MRT diba. I've been riding MRT for almost 4 years na din (kung tama math ko...) and everyday is a struggle for me especially kung rush hours. Pero wala ako magagawa kasi this is the easiest mode of traveling, right? Ayun lang hindi maiiwasan mga nakakainis at nakakatawa(meron nga ba) na experiences sa MRT.

Here are just a few of mine:

1. Ang mga koala.. bow!

Kilala mo itong mga ito. Aba iha.. dancer ka ba ng pole at sinosolo mo yan? Ang pole sa gitna ng MRT ay hawakan. Hindi sandalan. It’s so irritating when someone literally hugs that pole or minsan sinasandalan. Sabi nga ng recording - "Humawak lang po sa matitigas." Paano ka hahawak kung may parang koala na nakayakap dun or mas malala pa me nakasandal na sobrang pawis na pawis pa likod.

2. Wag mo sila salubungin.. di mo sila kamaganak!

Picture this. Palabas ka na ng MRT and then sa harap mo.. mga taong naguunahang papasok. Please lang! Wag ka namang sumabay. Hayaan mo munang lumabas ung nasa loob. Para galing akong airport nyan eh…. salubong ka ng salubong eh.

3. After the airport scene, Amazing Race naman tayo.

Iha.. kasali ka ba sa Amazing Race. Nakakatawa ito especially sa Quezon Ave and Cubao station, unahang maglabasan ang mga tao. Ano premyo nyo?

4. Ah kaya pala Libre!

I love reading Libre. Kaso, sana damihan nyo pa info dun. Kulang kasi sa balita. I mean, ang dami dami nyong patrons to do this simple thing.

5. No water supply.

Ito na lang lagi kong nababasa sa CR ng Boni Station. Hay. Dito ba napupunta taxes ko?

6. MRT Records.

Okay na ngayon ung recording. Parang LRT 2 Purple. Professional ang dating. Dati kasi bisaya si manong Driver... Shoo station daw... Ano daw? Shaw pala. Or masama.. Buni station. Haha! Minsan naman nanggugulat... parang announcer na sobrang lakas mag announce. Minsan naman, bumubulong Or minsan - maling station sasabihin. Kuya, okay ka lang? Sa sounds naman, nasaan na ung MRT Radio dati. Nawala na yata. I can’t forget the song nung pasko. Christmas in our Hearts. LSS ko lagi yan hahaha! Panalo. Intro pa lang.. alam ko na....

7. MRT Slot Machine

MRT Admins, ayusin nyo naman yung single journey tickets nyo. Minsan nag pasok ako ng 50 pesos sa Purple train - hala puro piso sinukli sa 15 pesos ko. Ano to Casino Filipino. Hahaha! Jackpot!

8. Philippine Dental Association

Hmmm. Paminsan minsan me nakaksakay akong lovers na sobrang PDA. Naghahalikan at nag aakapan. Kung san san na humahawak yung lalake. Kulang na lang maghubad silang pareho. Get a room naman! Hindi kame naiinggit sa inyo. Nakakadiri at nakakainis kayo. GRrrh!

9. Titanic the Movie

Remember this scene.. ung kamay sa salamin hahah grabeh! I really hate rush hour. Maski sa 1st train kasi -sobrang siksikan. And nakakapagtaka - bakit nagsisisiksikan kayo sa may door. Sa gitna ang luwag luwag naman! Grrh!

10. Checking of Bags

Ito pa - natatawa na lang ako. Napaka-ningas cogon talaga ng Pinoy. Remember nung uso ung bomb threat. Sobra sila nag check ng bag. Ngayon wala tinutusok lang ng stick yung loob ng bag mo. Anong klaseng checking yan. Magseseryoso lang kayo magcheck pag me bomb threat na ulit. hayyyyy!

11. Grooming... inside the MRT???

Ito nakakatawa. Once I wasn’t able to bring my ipod so I have no choice but to listen and observe people sa MRT just to kill time. I heard someone clipping nails. So shmepre nagulat ako - hello MRT Etiquette. Why in all places sa MRT pa. Nung nakita ko ung guy.. nag gugupit ng kuko... SA PAA! Promise.. everyone was really shocked and nagparinig na ugn iba. Ayun nahiya.. bumaba. This really grossed me out. Hayy!

12. Habulin ng plantsa.

Don’t you hate it when you ride the MRT feeling fresh with your crisp and clean clothes and PAGLABAS mo.. para kang ni-rape ng sampung kabayo? Hayy. Pero mas gusto ko nang ganito sa UMAGA (sa first train ha) kesa naman pag uwi na. Oh my goodness. Imagine mo nlng amoy araw at pawis mga katabi mo...

It's Payback Time!

After months of pushing myself into the limits, I got my sentence yesterday! Yipee! *wink* Hmmm.. Dont you think I sound too happy here..^^ I've been experiencing chest pains and difficulty of breathing for quite a month now and I didn't take it seriously until I had my asthma attack last Saturday. All through out this week the pain continued and occurred several times in a day. Finally, I realized that I wanted to live after all... so I went to the doctor yesterday (thanks for the prodding of my officemates). And guess what - I acquired Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (layman's term - Acid Reflux), a serious form of heartburn. Well, I had the same reaction, how on earth could that be related to my asthma attack. So my doctor explained it in detail but since I've got a short term memory, Ive completely forgotten it,Gastro what??!! hehehe. But thanks to the internet, I got a quite easier explanation here:

GERD is the chronic backward flow of stomach acids into the esophagus. Usually, stomach acid is kept in the stomach by a valve at the bottom of the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter. Sometimes, this valve becomes faulty. When this acid enters the lower part of the esophagus, it can produce a burning sensation, commonly referred to as heartburn. If left untreated, GERD can eventually lead to lung damage, ulcers in the esophagus (the swallowing tube), and in some instances "Barrett's esophagus," a condition that may lead to esophageal cancer.

And the relationship between asthma and reflux:

1. The acid flow causes injury to the lining of the throat, airways and lungs, making inhalation difficult and often causing a persistent cough.

2. When acid enters the esophagus, a nerve reflex is triggered, causing the airways to narrow in order to prevent the acid from entering. This will cause a shortness of breath.

So there it is! Amazing! Heheheh. Now, I remember what the doctor said ehehe.. *wink*

Anyways, the worst part of any consultation with a doctor is when he tells you the dos and don'ts. Mine includes:
1. Give up (sabe give up hindi cut down or limit huhuhuh) smoking, alcohol, coffee, tea, chocolates, AND fatty, fried & spicy food. Number 1 palang di ko na kaya! Chocolates igi-give up ko???!!! Huhuhu!
2. Eat smaller portions of food. Nasanay kasi ako not eating breakfast and then I take my lunch around 1-2 pm. Minsan den I love food trip.. ung kainan na wala nang bukas! T_T
3. Eat meals at least three to four hours before lying down, and avoid bedtime snacks. So wala nang midnight snack.
4. Elevate the head of the bed or mattress 6 to 8 inches. This helps to keep acid in the stomach by gravity when sleeping.

The medicines I have to take is another part of the story. Now I have to spend for the Ventolin Inhaler and Nexium Proton Pump Inhibitor. If only I quitted smoking and drinking a little earlier... If only na lang masasabi ko ngayon.. Hahhaha...

So tama pala ung cliche na "nasa huli ang pagsisisi". Now its really payback time. =) Tama na ang pagiging pasaway! ^__^

Born Without Fingerprints: Scientists Solve Mystery of Rare Disorder

Two rare and related diseases leave their sufferers with no fingerprints. Now scientists may have cracked the genetic code behind the inherited ailments.

Researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia report that defects in the protein keratin 14 may be responsible for both diseases, known as Naegeli syndrome and dermatopathia pigmentosa reticularis (DPR).

The lack of fingerprints can cause vexing social problems, which are magnified because few people have heard of the condition.

Cheryl Maynard of Fairfax, Virginia, is part of the fifth generation of her family to have inherited DPR from her mother's side.

"My father was in the military and he had top-secret clearances," she recalled.

"We moved a lot, and everywhere we went they'd say, What do you mean your wife doesn't have fingerprints? What do you mean that you have kids without fingerprints?"

Maynard has personally experienced many fingerprint-related snafus, often related to employment.

She works as a flight attendant and noted that a standard background check by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, which took about 2 weeks for most of her peers, took 14 weeks in her case.

"I applied for work at a jail facility, and they were naturally fingerprinting people who were going to be employees," she said.

"I kept hearing, Of course you have fingerprints. And five or six different technicians were telling one another, You're doing this wrong, let me do this. I have to tell them I was born without them."

"Things like that are a problem," Maynard said. "It has delayed me [from] getting jobs."

Unable to Sweat

For the handful of people without fingerprints the physical impacts are few. Maynard has normal feeling in her fingers, though the lack of fingerprints deprives her of some grip, which makes dealing cards or turning pages more difficult.

But the lack of fingerprints is not the diseases' only, or even most serious, impact.

Patients also experience thickening of their palms and soles of their feet. They suffer from anomalies in the development of their teeth, hair, and skin, where pigmentation can appear patchy and uneven.

Most dangerously, they have skin issues that can inhibit their ability to sweat normally.

"That's the only really serious manifestation as far as potential harm," said professor Eli Sprecher of the Technion-Israel Institute. Sprecher is co-author of the study that discusses the conditions in the October issue of the American Journal of Human Genetics.

"Because they cannot evacuate heat, they can develop heat stroke."

Maynard added that this problem has always made sports a trial.

"I swam competitively as a kid, but some parents would always ask why I was sitting on the side of the pool. My mom would have to tell them, Even though the water is cold, she's overheated from swimming."

As an adult Maynard is careful to stay hydrated, keep ice packs handy, and use air conditioning for most of the year.

Link to "Suicidal Cells," Cancer?

Unfortunately for those who suffer such ailments, a cure is not at hand.

But the protein culprit, first identified by Technion graduate student Jennie Lugassy, could be the clue to cracking more common and dangerous diseases.

According to Gabriele Richard, study co-author and geneticist at Thomas Jefferson University, "apparently keratin 14 is very important for developing skin in the fetus and creating the fingerprints."

Researchers are also pondering the protein's connection with programmed cell death—information that could someday help with many skin disorders.

Programmed cell death, a form of cellular suicide, is the way that cells typically expire when the useful phase of their existence is complete. The process is often disabled in cancer cells, allowing them to live and proliferate.

"It looks as if the disease is associated with the inability of the cell to produce normal levels of keratin 14," Sprecher said.

"It would be interesting to determine if keratin 14 has a role in cell death."

15 Tips on Writing Your Suicide Note

Tip #1
Start Early.
Getting an early start is important. If you can, start a few days before your suicide. Make sure you're in a clear state of mind. You do not want to try to write your note while waiting for the pills you took to kick in, or have to rush through it before you bleed to death. Giving yourself enough time to write your note will help eliminate the most common mistakes.

Tip #2
Don't try to say everything.
There are probably a lot of things you have on your mind, and you need to take some time and sort them out. Decide what is most important to say and leave out things that don't matter. Decide now what you want your readers to come away with after reading your note. Eliminate those things that distract from that point.

Tip #3
Handwrite your note if you can.
A handwritten note is a lot more personal. However, if you are worried your letter will not be understood, or you are physically not able to write it by hand don't worry about it. The important thing is that you get your message across.

Tip #4
Be natural.
Write the way you would speak. A good suicide note is personal, not formal. Don't get out the thesaurus and look for the biggest words you can find. Be yourself.

Tip #5
Avoid cliché's
Filling your note with phrases like "Goodbye cruel world" and "no one understands me" will make your note feel less like your thoughts and more like a form letter. Too many cliché's and it can look like you are just going through the motions or that you are leaving a note because you feel that you should, but without having anything to say. If you want to say something but it sounds too cliché, try to re-word it a little.

Tip #6
In general, use first person.
It creates a sense of intimacy and makes it easier for a reader to see things from your point of view, if you want to use a different viewpoint, be sure that you stick to it throughout your whole note.

Tip #7
Don't use your note like a will.
You might want your best friend to get your stereo but your suicide note is not the place to express that. If you want to leave certain things to certain people you should setup a will ahead of time. Just because you write it down does not make it legal, and it can be easily dismissed by the claim that you were not of sound mind when you wrote it.
Taking the time to set up a will will also help keep you from giving away your stuff in the months/weeks/days before the suicide. That's one of the most obvious indications that you are thinking about killing yourself and will likly get you "saved", or at least make the process more difficult.

Tip #8
Be Honest.
Your note will be one of the last things you give the world to judge you by. If you include things that others can disprove, it can discount the entire note. Besides, there is not much reason for lying at this point, is there?

Tip #9
Don't reveal your methods.
This is most important when taking poisons and pills. Telling everyone what you took just makes it easier for them to give you the treatments needed to revive you. Alternately, you do not want someone to find the note that details which bridge you're jumping off of before you get that chance to jump. They might be able to stop you. People will find out how you did it once the autopsy reports come in anyway.

Tip #10
Don't say anything you might regret.
There is always a chance that you will be found and "rescued". Suicide notes are not the place to rip into people, give away other's secrets, or confess crimes. The last thing you want is to end up in a hospital bed, facing the people who read something you would never have told them while alive.

Tip #11
Don't try to persuade the reader.
You do not want to spend your time trying to convince the reader that you are right. In most cases nothing you can say will change they way they feel. Your purpose is to express your point of view. It doesn't matter if the reader shares your point of view or not, only that they understand it.

Tip #12
Proofread your note.
Re-read your note at least twice. It's easy to make a simple mistake that distracts from the overall feel of the note. When reading over your note, there are a lot of things to look for. It's better to read it several times, looking for something different each time then to try to remember it all while reading it over once.
Make sure the point you wanted to get across when you started writing is clear. Don't be afraid to made edits, but be sure to read your note over again when you do.

Tip #13
Make your note easy to find
Take some time to consider where to leave your note. If you can't leave it near you, be sure to leave it in an obvious location. Even if you want someone in particular to read your note first, avoid sending it to someone by mail. There are too many things that could go wrong and once you send it, it's gone. Your note could get lost in the mail, or worse, it could reach someone before you can go though with it.

Tip #14
Check your note for flow.
Your note should progress rather then being a loose connection of thoughts and feelings. People reading your note should see that it is going somewhere. If you're having a hard time, start with a sentence or two that sum up the point of the letter, and then end with a summary of the same topic. Every paragraph in between should support that point.

Tip #15
Make sure it's not too long.
There is a reason it's called a suicide note and not a novel. Try to keep it around two or three pages at the most. Avoid the temptation to mention or leave a little note to everyone you know. Not only does that get dull fast but you're certain to leave someone out.

Going into this elevator would certainly makes one nervous. A sign at the entrance cautions the people that goes in about work in progress. A more detailed look shows that the floor has been painted with an illusion that there is no floor. 3 more pics after the jump.
